Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. "How about a sitcom with libertarian views? You will get more viewers with laughs than with hard news. I would also watch music videos with a freedom message." Actually, once we get the network up-and-running, we'll want to offer a variety of programming. The idea of a libertarian sit-com is a good one, and we'd be happy to review proposals at that time. While we wouldn't want to devote all our time to music videos, I can certainly see a one-hour music video show appearing somewhere in the programming schedule. However, our top priority must be to establish a daily news program first to establish a working model on which we can build an entire network. Q. "Can I buy stock in this endeavor? Will you accept silver? I am a little short on fiat money." Unfortunately, our company was already previously organized as an LLC and is legally unable to offer stock. Our intention after we get the news program up, running, and showing a positive cash flow is to reorganize as a corporation so we can offer a stock offering in order to fund the building of an entire network. When that happens, our intention is to remember those who helped us get going in the first place. However, legally we can't promise anything specific, so for now your donation must remain that...a donation. As for accepting silver instead of fiat money, that's an interesting idea. We'll look into it to see if there is a way to make that option available. Q. "Why not finance with some of the bucks we all donated to RP?" I suspect there might be campaign finance laws that would get in the way of such use of those donations. In any event, that's not up to us to decide. It would be up to the Ron Paul 2008 campaign to decide how to use those funds. Q. "You mention Current.TV is already on cable and satellite. Why not use them to deliver your programming?" We're considering a number of current networks to contact regarding putting our nightly news program on cable and satellite. However, we must remember that Current.TV was created by liberal Democrat Al Gore for the purpose of pushing liberal issues. They might not take kindly to permitting a newscast by producers who want to push for more liberty and less government. Q. "You also don't mention anything about a strategy to use a youTube channel to establish a following of supporters. Why is that?" Unfortunately, YouTube places a 10 minute limit on video clip length. YouTube is aimed at individual users who produce short film clips. That's not practical for regular programming. We're developing a channel at Mogulus, which will allow us to put up and broadcast regular programming. We'll use that as our first web access point to start. Once we've built the project to the point where we have a large enough following and sufficient monetary support, we'll look at renting time from a network that specializes in professional video delivery, including live broacasts. The Mogulus toolset is acceptable for now, but it's rather primitive and likely won't grow fast enough to meet our needs. |
